Hi folks.  I have been a member for a while but never had anything to announce so I have been quiet but now its time I waded into the forum and made a post.  Saturday I begin my first big trip with the 16BH, from Ottawa, On to Stewiacke, N.S. approximately 1500 kms.  I will be towing using my 05 Uplander without a WD hitch or sway bar as I have not had a problem so far.  The TT has been working well for us, us being my wife and I and two boys 3 and 1.  I have had a few problems to date, none major and rectified quickly by the dealer, the water tank and pump had a small leak and the bearings had to be repacked….no grease from the factory.  My only other complaint is a water heater pilot that failed in a moderate wind last weekend but we shall see what happens on this trip.

I have completed 2 mods to the trailer to make my life easier, the first was to build a gated opening for the lower bunk to keep the 1 year old from climbing/falling out of bed.  I did this by building the gate and screwing it to the OSB under the mattress.  The second was an addition of a "Patty O' Room" scren room for under the awning.  We havent tested it yet as this trip will be the first with it on.  I am hoping it provides a bug free warm weather environment for eating as the transformation from bed to table can be a nuisance.

Wish  us luck on the trip.

hope you have a fun safe trip, we have the same trailer but instead of the patty o room we opted for the eazy up 10X10 with screen as it gives us more adapability as to locations and gives more room (awning for cooking and dishes as well as sitting) as in the pic below

There is no wrong way as long as you are happy and safe!

That sounds like the kind of trip I'd like to make! (I'm in Sudbury)  How long are you going for?  I assume your 3 y.o. sleeps on the top bunk. . . how's that going?  I also have a 3 y.o. and I don't know how comfortable I'd feel about her on top, but maybe I underestimate her! (she has been in a double bed at home without a bedrail for over a year now)  Have fun and drive safe!

Sorry for the delay in responding but the "Trip" has consumed our lives since the 10th.  My 3 yr old sleeps on the top bunk, I have a standard bed rail installed and it works well.  I plan to look at building a ladder to access the top bunk when I get home.

The trip itself has been awesome, 2 weeks with no work worries….total bliss.  The Uplander has been performing well…it could use a little more power but its paid for so I hate to part with it.  The trailer is perfect for our family of four and the onlyproblem I have encountered this trip is a very sensitive pilot light for the hot water tank that keeps blowing out.  The fridge shuts down too when towing but its still cold when I stop so no harm done.

I am currently sitting in Woodstock New Brunswick at a Jelly Stone National Park.  If you have small kids this is a great place for an overnighter as the staff are wonderful and there are so many scheduled events for the yooung ones.

I completed a small mod while on the go and built three shelves 10″apart in the closet.  I had hanging shelves but found we gave up too much depth using them.  I wil post some pics of this when I get back to Ottawa.  Well tis time for bed, want to enjoy the trailer for two more nights before making it home.Cool
