Sorry to bother you, and new to this site, but are considering the same model you recently purchased.  We saw a 19BH at our local dealer, as they did not have the 19SBT in stock.  I love your pics but have a question…..was the roof mounted A/C unit standard, was it ordered that way, or did the dealer install it for you?  The 19BH we looked at only had the through-the-wall window shaker A/C unit, but saw a j-box cover on the ceiling marked as A/C electrical connection….didn't see on the brochure's option list that the roof mount was an option.  Thanks for any info you can give, and I'm jealous of your new TT.  Hope you enjoy!  Thanks, Garry in Northern Colorado

Garry,

We actually had a choice between two trailers off the lot. One had the wall air and the other had the roof air. The main ditterence between the two trailer was the age the one with the wall air conditioning unit had just arrived and the one we purchased with the roof air was a very early 2011 model. I have noticed that the new trailers advertised seem to have the wall air unit and not the roof unit.

We had cons about the roof air.

-Possible roof leaks from the air unit on the roof

-Easy and cheap to replace the wall unit

-What made us choose the roof air was the direction of the vents. They point toward the front and back of the trailer and we felt that would give us the best air circulation. The $500 cheaper for the older model helped too.

Dave,

Thank you for the quick reply.  I see you're from Sarnia – we lived in Ann Arbor, MI for MANY years before relocating to Fort Collins, Colorado (hence the "FoCoNoCo" – locals here call Fort Collins "FoCo", and the NoCo is for Northern Colorado).  Thank you for the great information.  I had read older posts on this site as well as on other sites stating that the 5,000btu window shaker cannot keep the 19' units cool in high heat/humidity, this being the reason for my question.  My guess is that if we buy the same unit you did, we would have the dealer install a rooftop unit, or I would install myself (yes, I'm very handy and good with electrical wiring as well).  I don't like the extreme heat and would be VERY unhappy on a camping trip in 100 degree weather with a 90 degree camper.  We have been unable to find a dealer that has this model in stock, but our nearest dealer, Ketelsen in Denver should be getting one in the next few weeks, in which case I want to see it before they sell it!  Hoping you enjoyed your "test" shakedown camping trip.  Was curious if your test trip was in Michigan or Canada?  Nice CG you visited on the shore there.  Did you find the refrigerator to be large enough for your needs?  I'm really interested in this model and curious as to your findings.  Please keep us posted!

The campground we did our test camp at was the Pinery Provincial Park (Ontario Canada) on the shores of lake huron. Our camping trip was only for a couple of days so the size of the fridge was noy reallly a concern. We did find one issue with the fridge and that was the uneven cooling. We have since found a fridge fan at Walmart that runs on batteries to move the air to avoid the uneven cooling problem.
