Cool I am trying to decide between the 13FK and the 14RK (if I can find one).  I'm ondering if the 13' sways too much?  Is the RK a good idea for weight distribution since I am towing with a '93 Lincoln Town Car? Someone told me I should carry most of the weight on the back of the trailer, not on the hitch because of towing with an auto..even though it is a tank. Any input would be appreciated.

I might add, the 14RK, from the floorplan looks like it has a lot of counter space. But the 13' sure looks "cute."

Thank you!

Ive always heard if you put the weight towards the rear of the trailer that causes "sway", so I try and distribute my weight between the axle and the tongue being careful to distribute evenly right and left sides and my 14 RK pulls fine with no sway or bucking. But others more expert than I might have differing opinions. You might check rvnet for more weight distribution/towing information. I looked at the 13 and I think it was cute too but I didnt like the lack of counterspace since I like to have room to prepare meals, and secondly the microwave on the 13 was very low and I hate to bend more than I have to (bad back). I dont remember what the storage was or where it was located on the 13, I know on the 14RK the dinette is front so more storage space in rear so I am careful of how much weight I put in rear storage areas. The 14RK will be discontinued for 2011, but there are a few out there that I know of. If you are towing with a automatic transmission I would consider looking into a transmission cooler as John suggests. I hope others chime in here with opinions to help you.

Welcome, 'highpoint' to our small corner of the globe.Wink

I'd check with the expert at e-trailer.com, Bob Gisi @ (636) 887-9346 (direct)…..hitches, sway control, Lincoln Town Car towing capacity, etc.  I'm guessing that Bob has had some Mechanical Engineering background.  Bob has helped me put together a very safe towing package.  Also, speak to your local tech person at your Lincoln dealer and see your owner's manual for towing capacity…..perhaps, Lincoln dealer has stiffer/heavy duty rear springs/shock absorber available.  A transmission cooler is highhly suggested, also.  A good rule of thumb to follow to control sway……for ever pound of weight placed behind the axle, place two pounds in front of the axle…….thus, 167 lbs. behind axle / 333 lbs. in front = 500 lbs. of camping stuff in the TT (travel trailer), to maintain the needed 10-15% of trailer weight for the tonge weight.

Prior to purchasing our 14RK, I fantisized about sitting in the rear of 13FK, while trying to watch LCD/HD TV on the front counter, concluding too difficult with refrigerator cabinet blocking / limiting the view.

13FK has about 54-56″ counter space, with lower cabinet space, + top of refrig. cabinet.  My fantasy made the 13FK just too claustraphobic, for my liking.

I measured counter spaces in our 14RK to help you and others decide.  Thus, refrigerator cabinet top = 4' high x 25″ wide x 23″ deep.  The right angled, right side-rear countertop measures 52″ frig. to rear-corner, 56-1/2″ rear-corner to outside bathroom wall…….22-1/2″ deep.  The front right-angle (counter leading edge) measures 30″ x 34″.  The stainless sink measures 13″ wide and is 17-1/2″ from bathroom wall.  The outside corner to inside corner of the right-angled countertop = 32″ diagonal.

Keep the questions flowing.
