I just purchased a sportsmen classic 14RK and I confused about the window opening. When I depress the two side latches and lift up the window their is only one hole indent to set the latch, which leaves the window opening only an inch of so, is this full open?? Im considering placing a prop of somekind in the window to hold up the glass so the window can have more air circulation. Has this bothered anyone else but me?

We also realized that on our first camping outing.  When we purchased our trailer, we had the factory install a roof ventillation fan.  It is wireless, thermostatic controlled and works off the battery as well as electric.  That being said, we have great ventillation in our unit.

All in all, we have been more than pleased with our unit.

Which vent did you go with? I actually have a kz dealer not too far from me that I can check and see if they do installations.

Seems that the window manufacturer is just slapping the windows together, not checking to see how far windows open. The other factor is that to drill holes for a second opening isn't as easy as one would think, you need to pop out the solid glass then drill the new holes in the frame, then put everything back together.

I'm thinking of swapping out the dinette window for one with crank out window regulators  by Hehr. Then I figure I would get more airflow through the trailer.

On a post note, KZ and others designed their trailers with air conditioning, because most of the RV owners go to campgrounds with full hookups, and when running the air conditioning, you would have the windows shut, so the 1″ would be acceptable for opening.

Donna and I too were surprised at the shallow opening of the windows…..yet, the left dinette escape window does hinge out at the top and the right slides up/open several inches.  Te first mod to our 14RK was to install a Henge's Vortex I single speed fan in bathroom skylight (tied into 12 VDC light adjacent on bath ceiling).  Fan moves air at a rapid rate of 188 cu.ft./minute…..complete air exchange in just under three minutes.  Good for getting rid of the hot air in a hurry that might build up in the TT, on the way to the campground.  Certain odors quickly disapate, with the use of this fan.  I'm still trying to figure out how to cheaply control the fan speed.

I know this is an older thread John and youve prolly figured out the fan control speed mod by now but in case you havent could you wire up something like a wall dimmer switch you use for a ceiling light? doesnt that control amperage or voltage? Just a random thought, since you said cheaply thought that might work. Like I said electricity is beyond this woman's comprehension Confused

Kim, I don't know much about electricity either.  Perhaps a wall dimmer would work, yet I've read that that does not work with 12vdc, as it does with 120vac.  SmileJohn
