I have a 2011 14RB.  I live in it full time in a RV resort in Florida.  I noticed lately that the lights don't seem as bright inside.  I checked the water in battery, but I am plugged into shore power all the time.  Any suggestions???Confused

Just to clarify, you mean converter, right?  The batteries weren't being charged adequately/appropriately?

Thanks

Yea, my bad, I mean converter.  The circuit board went out and it stopped charging all together.  The brand is World Friendship Products, not too many good reviews on their products, hope next 1 lasts longer. 1st 1 lasted 1yr 4 months.  I had the same brand in my Coachmen Motor coach and it went bad after less than 2 years.  Not too impressed.

Glad to hear you got the problem figured out.  Is the plan to replace the board on the existing converter, or swap it out completely to a different brand/model?  And if you're replacing the existing one, do you happen to have the manufacturer and model number (to reference when mine goes bad Cry)?

Thanks for the valuable information!

It has a 2 year warrenty, the dealer ordered a new whole unit.  Part # is  WF 8735.  Just open the door on your converter and look at the label.  I looked at the dealership and every 1 I seen had the World Freindship Co. brand in them.  Must be how they keep the cost down on the RV's.  My cost to go out and just buy the same converter in $139.00 plus shipping.  Pretty cheap for a converter. Confused

The WFCO 8735 is a low cost converter/charger.  That is not a bad thing.  Its main function is to supply a steady 13.6V power source to the '12V' stuff in your RV.

Where this unit runs into problems is when you try to dry-camp with a genny and want to keep your battery(s) charged.  In this case you will need solar or a portable battery charger because 13.6V will not charge your battery(s) very fast.

If this problem happens to others (me perhaps, since I'll be full timing very soon), and one has AC power available, can you keep your battery charged to run minimal DC requirements by putting an automotive trickle charger on its terminals (I have one)?  It seems like it ought to work, but I'm not knowledgeable about what that might do to the whole DC system.  This would only be a temporary fix, of course.
