could probably post this in general discussion,, but i's a mod of a sort.

recently purchased a memory foam matress topper from Wal Mart for a queen size bed at the house, loved it but then bought a new mattress 2 months later anyway, so I took the topper to the camper ao see how much of it I might need to cut off to use in the front of my 19bh ,,

To my suprise the topper was the exact width of the matress and about 3 inches short of the length,,, which means I never noticed that it wasnt the size of my queen at home,,,

So if you want a memory foam topper for your Full XL the Queen size Topper from Wall Mart is a very good fit

DBF complains about the cushions on the dinette bed of my 16BH and I have offered to put a topper on – in fact I have one from WM that I'm not currently using on my bed.  But we would have the storage issue because we do occasionally use the dinette as such.

We are also 16BH owners and have also used a foam mattress cover, but the storage of the foam topper when not in use presents sort of a problem for us.  It is a space occupier when not in use for sure.  I was wondering if one could use one of those storage bags where you can pump the air out and thus cut down on the volume?  https://www.spacebag.com/17/index.dtm?mid=563894

Any thoughts?

We felt a good night's sleep was more important than a dinette, so I bought a full XL mattress  & have the bed up all the time. After 1 night, we both knew it was the right decision for us.

Dear Matthew:  After reading your post that you put a full XL mattress all the time and no longer use your booth, I was wondering how you are adjusting not having a dinette for meals, reading, etc.   Do you use your camper mostly for "camping" and are outside pretty much all the time other than sleeping?  I really do like your idea for a comfortable bed.  We have focused on the bunks.  Upgraded the mattresses and use them, thus keeping our dinette to use.  I bought a folding stool and don't have much difficulty getting in/out of the upper bunk.

Matthew – I'm interested as well.  There are times when I just need the dinette (raining, etc.) and when I'm traveling solo, I usually leave it in the dinette postion and sleep in the bunk, like Carolandjack.  Do you miss not having the dinette?

We have the 13 footer so we make up bed every night. I bought a foam mattress topper from Walmart ( cheap one) and I made a custom cover for it out of a king sized velour blanket. We fold it and put it in the closet. We tuck our tv in the folds for protection during travel.  At night we get mattress out, unfold, lay it on the bed, top with our silk sleep sacs in warm weather and we are ready for bed!  In cold weather I use a sleeping bag. Hubby likes blankets. We originally got the silk sleep sacs for bedding when we go to visit our daughter who is a missionary in Haiti. We bought quality ones and I love them.  They are comfortable in hot temps and add warmth and comfort to a sleeping bag or blanket. Also pack very small.

A doudle size sheet fits our dense foam topper. We fold it up with the sheet and stuff it up on the top bunk of our 16bh when the dinette is in use. When ready to make our bed  we lay it out on our converted dinnette and use a comforter over us. Very fast and easy.

Ahh, Wrenchist – unfortunately I wouldn't be able to do that so easily.  I had half the top bunk removed by the dealer before taking delivery.  It opened up the space and allows as to better utilize the bottom bunk since it's two adults primarily using the 16BH.  I have pics in the mod section.

ditto! we are currently looking for an ottoman that would slide under the "bed" that we can pull out on the odd chance that we would want to be in and not in bed.  we bought a small table that we can use "sort of like a small ironing board"  for dining on the couch.

Bought the topper atcw have used it on several nights. It is a little short but not enough to be an issue. It sleeps great no longer have an issue with sleeping on the dinette. It folds up and stores under the dinette seat and still have room for a few other items. It was worth the investment
