I found it a pain to use the under seat storage on my 16bh. Dividing the opening in two made it much easier to get in.

I was thinking of doing the same thing because I feel like I'm doing gymnastics trying to hold the cushion and full length of plywood to get into the storage area.  I hadn't thought of adding the extra support bar though.

I also thought about adding a door on the end of the bench and accessing it that way.

I was contemplating having the whole end panel be a drawer face and building a drawer box with roller/sliders to attach it to. I decided to keep it simple….. like my carpentry skills.
