Ok, so normally when we go camping we go to state parks and have been lucky enough to get a campsite close to the campground restrooms.  However, this past time I actually tried to do #2 in our 16BH. I'm not that big, and I struggled LOL.  The Door hits my Knee's and whiping is a challenge :) Not to mention we wish the restroom area had a small sink. Soooooo i got to analayzing the Inside of the 16BH and came to the conclusion that If I remove the Closet Space Cabinet, I can shift the Bunks Forward up to the Door. Then extend the restroom area to fill up the entire back of the RV.  That should be enough to add a small sink and mirror and maybe straighten the door of the restroom area so its not angled where it hits my knees when sitting on Toilet.

I can do it easily although not sure I want to tear up my only 2 month old 16BH :)

How do you plan on dealing with the external storage compartment/bottom bunk?

Wait, how tall/much do you weigh? The reason I ask is … when I was considering getting the 14RB someone suggested I take the bathroom test in it first. I ran into the same problem knee/door problem you had. I didn't have it in 16BH, but all I did was sit down and close the door. I'm 6ft/170pds.

Steve, I'm like 5'9″ and 170# and agree.  I have to sit down first then close door. As for the storage I'll ahve to somehow work with.  I'd probably put the sink and build cabinet to fit over the storage portion.  I'll draw it out and I bet it would be easy to modify.

I've been thinking about the storage all day and realized that it can work. Especially since you're putting the sink over it. You still have access via the outside door to that part of storage, while being able to get to the rest from the bottom bunk.

The part that sucks is you lose some storage space by way of your closet. However, if you were to build a side access door to the bottom bunk. See where I'm going here? You can avoid having to fight everything on top of it to gain access to what's below. You can even drop in a divider between the bunk and outter door to keep stuff separate.

Cool idea, but I would have 2 concerns. It is a pretty tight fit between the pantry cabinet & the bunks. If you move the bunks, it will be that close to the the sink as well. If it is just you in the 16bh, it would be easy, but when another person or 2 tries to move around in there, I foresee a problem.

Second, if you are big on TV watching, you may not be able to use a TV as the bunk would block you from viewing.

Steve, I like your idea. Also I could actually make some shelves under the bottom bunk.  Storage space is not crucial for me as I have a TRUCK as TV and can just keep all those supplies there or I can rig up a TOOLBOX to back bumper of RV and have it locked.  Thats no biggie and may actually give me easier access to the items I'd keep in teh storage area anyway.  This idea is actually looking better the more I analyze it.   I'll take pics and draw out what I plan to do and you'll see its going to be quite simple.

Mbanda,

The end wall of the bunks. The one thats there now, I'd probably use to mount our 20″ widescreen LCD to it. Or I'll rig up something to mount an LCD under the Cabinets that are over DINETTE.  We only slip on the queen size bed area.  No one uses bunks yet except our little toddler.  Top bunk is mostly storage.

Here is what I'm talking about.  KZ's website makes teh toilet look smaller than what it is and the distance between toilet and door bigger than what it is.

Drawing looks awesome. I would really like to see the finished product as well.

OT, but does anyone have a radio above the dinette as shown in the pic?

I'm pretty sure the radio was an option.  No,  I don't have it.

Ruben – something to consider is if there is a beam at the spot you want to move the bunk end to.  Remember that's where there's going to be a lot of weight from the bunks.

And DBF, who is 6'6″ fits into the bathroom – granted it's tight but I don't think he has the issues you described.

Supposedly the Radio was in the Full Loaded Package which mine was but doesnt have it. Which was ODD. I think it should have it, maybe its a miss print.

When I spec'd out my 16 I told them I wanted the full 16BH package but did not want the radio. They got me just that.

Plans do look awesome……and I would also like to see the finished product.

Radio……I'm in the process of hanging/mounting a JBL 12v car CD receiver in its own mounting-box under the middle cabinet area.  I had to re-position the over dinette light a few inches behind the radio.  The dinette light is the 12v power source.  Rockford Fosgate Prime 5-1/2″ speakers are mounted within the front end panels.  External SS antenna is surface mounted via "self-designed L-bracket" upper left, near the TT front.  Antenna rotates, so is parallel to TT top, as needed.  Antenna braided ground wire together with the coax cable routed thru TT side-wall.  The coax to radio's rear connector and ground wire to the TT frame.  I hope this all works out without connection problems or speaker cabinet buzz.
