Want to replace the chip board storage covers  with something lighter but strong enough to hold up my fat butt..Any one know of something I can buy?? Need name and where to purchase…48″ x 24″ need two..

Thanks

Hi, Nancy!

Our 14RK came with 5/32″ to 11/64″ plywood wall paneling as the 24″ x 48″ supports for storage covers.  The same stuff used on the 14RK's walls.  Perhaps inexpensive (cheap) decor wall paneling from Mennard's Building Supplies or Home Depot (Minnesota) or other lumber yards.  Many of them will cut-to-order for you and at no charge.

Additionally, I used 2″ x 2″s, 1″ x 2″s Fir or Pine stock and steel "L-brackets" to beef-up the horizontal  1″ x 2″ factory cross supports of the storage / seats.  The 10-gallon fresh water tank / 12 vdc pump is now separated by a plywood insert, so the plumbing would not be inadvertently injured with my 2-ton jack rolling around in the newly created compartment.

Hi, Nancy!

Did you replace the chip board storage covers……what material did you use?

Finally got an answer from an Aliner dealer..he said the wood is luann…anyone heard of it.

Know when I had my Aline the storage covers were lsuper light but held up 3 people on each side.

Going to go to Lowes etc this week and see what they say or look at the plywood.

Lauan is a type of wood from the Phillipines. It's rated as a mid grade mahogany. Good wood basically.
