Lets see what kind of interest there would be in A Classic Jamboree get together. Whos game and give me suggestions for a centrally located camp ground. Just be a get together and who knows it may get bigger every year. Start planning now for a possible event next year. I know a few years ago they had a streamliner convention here in Springfield Mo It was awesome to see old and new streamliners in one location. Lets get it started with some Brainstorming Ideas.Laugh

I like the idea! Since I am retired I am pretty free to travel when or where I want. I do have some plans already that have me pretty tied up till the fall of 2012 however.

Depending on timing and location I would be good for a few days somewhere I'm sure.

Once we get something going on a regular basis then it can be planned for in advance.

Just one thought now that I am thinking about it. I have booked a 3-day/2 night crusie on the Spirit of Peoria for September 2012. If others were interested perhaps we could combine it into a jamboree/cruise event.

Also, the Tall Stacks Festival is scheduled for Cincinnati in October of 2012. I will be attending that 5 day event as well. Again, something to think about if interested.

Regional is a good start for sure. Ok im from the midwest, Missouri. How about everyone else.Im sure most people have heard about Branson Mo we could have the midwest rally there. Lots of things for the family to do. Pleanty of campgrounds to choose from. Maybe one on Tablerock lake.

Let us know where your from and the region. Lets get this thing started.

I'm from the central texas area and was just telling a friend of mine how much I wanted to go to Branson.  I've never been there either.  With enough notice, I sure would put in an effort to get there. Cool

Theres lots to do in Branson. Silver dollar city, lots of music shows, Dolly Partons Dixie stampede, White water water park Branson belle show boat just to name a few things many  many more. also tablerock lake is close so you can swimming.  Definitly a good place to start. Now the biggist hurdle is finding out how many people would be interested in going. Looking at possibly next year if we start planning now should give us the time we need to get things going.

What yall Think

My wife, Jean, and I would definitely attend a rally in Branson.  We've been toying with dragging our 14RB down there and this would be a great opportunity.  Timing is no problem since we're both retired.  Great idea!

It is over a 1000 mile drive for me to Branson, but I would certainly be interested in combining a trip with another trip that would take me that way. Timing would be important … I have several trips planned already next year.

What time of the year were you all thinking?? I am pretty tied up till next summer (June/early July) and then have a riverboat cruise planned in September followed by the Tall Stacks Festival in Cincinnati, OH in October. Everyhting else is open.

I'll follow this thread and see if something will work for me.

If a date is set far enough in advance folks could work around other trips they may have planned for the camping season next year! Laugh Would someone from that area be willing to post links to possible RV Resorts we could stay at? It would be awesome to see this take off.

I thought I would add my two cents to the discussion on Sportsmen Classics Owners Gatherings (Rallies).  It has been said before that we are a group of people that encompass the entire United States as well as Canada.  In other words, we are very spread out.  So, I would think that regional groups would be the way to go.  That would not preclude anyone from attending any rallies they chose to.  They would absolutely be more than welcome.

Other issues that have been brought up before are empty nesters, young folks with children, retirees, fisherpersons, hikers, kayakers, etc.  We are a diverse group of folks.  How do we want to have that play into our rallies?  It has been said we need to post an information gathering tool so that we can have a meaningful representation from our group.  I support that, but just wouldn’t know how to construct it properly.

There is currently a thread regarding Branson, Missouri.  I took the liberty to look up some possible places where the Branson Gathering might me held.

  1. Table Rock Lake is a huge and beautiful crystal clear lake adjacent to Branson.  Choices there are:
    1. Table Rock State Park.  It is approx 12 miles from Branson
    2. Corps of Engineers Campground.  There are several there, but the closest one is Indian Point, which is 11 miles away.  They have 54 sites.
    3. IMHO, it might be difficult to get group reservations in these types of campgrounds for a ralley.  But, I really just don’t know.

  1. I looked at commercial parks in my Woodall’s Directory and there are several in Branson.  They are attuned to groups like ours and close to the major attractions.  Some are walking to the shows/attractions and others have free shuttle service, etc.  They all seem to have all the whistles and bells and would be in the $35.00/day price range. (Approx).  One of them, America’s Best Campground (417-336-4399) Advertises that Groups are Welcome and we could call for a complete rally planner packet. (Pets are welcome at all these parks, but I think some might have restrictions on breeds).
  2. I was visiting family in Springfield, Mo this past week and entered Branson via route 7 from Arkansas.  Beautiful drive!!  Branson was like a carnival atmosphere with more traffic than you could imagine.  It was also super hot last week.  Around 100 degrees.  Not a fun time to be in a camper.
  3. I would vote for a fall rally due to the traffic and weather in the peak of the summer.

Earlier today, 8/09/2011, I sent an e-mail to Corinne, Administrator / Owner of our site, the following:

'Carolandjack' have brought to my attention an interest in polling, via questionnaire, our membership for their thoughts regarding a Sport Classic Club "Jamboree (gathering)", sometime in the future.  My thought is that you and your applications programmer, might be able to provide a way to distribute a questionnaire to the entire membership through e-mail addresses, which the membership provided during their registration.  'Carolandjack' have suggested that the questionnaire, perhaps, could be filled-out and tallied electronically on our site.  Corinne, I'm in hopes that the logistics can be worked out.  Please confirm receipt of this e-mail.

Thank you,

I have to agree with Jack on these points. I live in Niagara Falls and with upwards of 15-20 million visitors … most during the summer months … it is not a pleasant place to try and get around and enjoy … at least not for the locals.

So … I agree that a fall meet would certainly be better for me. In fact, the fall is my favourite time of the year to travel. Kids in school, cooler, less traffic and the changing colours of the leaves makes for pleasant travels.

Still trying to figure out a location camping in Branson is not cheap. Trying to get just the right camp ground The big question is length of stay. 4day weekend or week long makes a difference on rates.. Also would everyone like asses to Branson shows and attractions.  Or mabe just a casual get together on the lake.

Hi gang,

Branson is a wonderful place to bring your family and there are many inexpensive activities & things to do while you are here.  Be sure to check out group rates and ammenities.  Here is a web page to a great campground that is rated tops among the Good Sam Parks in the United States.

http://www.abc-branson.com   Toll free number is 1-800-671-4399.  Groups of 10 or more can stay for $29.00 per night with full hook-ups, WIFI, Cable TV and 30/50amp service @ no extra charge.  This rate applies whether you stay2 days or more.  There are 3 bathhouses(potties & showers), game room, meeting hall, swimming pool, hot tub, playground, basketball court, ping-pong table and the front desk sell show tickets to almost all of the shows.  For 15 or more you can get group rates that are well below box office prices or front desk specials.

2nd week of May is a good time to visit Branson.  The Trees are in Spring Color and the flowers are just beginning to bloom.  It is not quite so hot yet and most of the "family" traffic has not started.

Third week in October is a wonderful time to visit Branson.  The Trees are usually in full fall colors and it is not so hot.  Traffic is better if you Zig when everyone else is Zagging.  There are many off roads (still paved) that can get you to your destination without having to fight the 76 blvd. traffic.

That's one of the camp ground I've looked at good for all activities in Branson but would also like to find sites on the lake but corps campgrounds hard to get groups in there I like aunts creek or mill creek but they don't all have full hook ups. Would like to find a private sites on the lake with full hook ups. Then we can take a vote and see if everyone wants causal lake site  or convince to Branson

We are now into the first week of March … time is marching on so to speak. I would be interested in going to the Branson area … provided it has sufficiently recovered from the storm damage … anytime. Never been before … so it will be a first.

The site that Ruthie Groff mentioned sounds pretty good … with full hook-ups and all. All we need is to get 10 people that would like to go.

Even thought I sold my Escape Spree, I am still willing to go … I will just park the ERA at the back and wear a bag over my head. LOL Cool

Glad to hear you found your RV. Don't worry we'll still talk to ya even if you are driving and not pulling.

We can't wait for the winter that wasn't to end so we can get our trailer out of storage and start another season. Looking at trying our first big trip to the east coast of Canada. Plan to start the journey through upper New York. Lobster on the Atlantic with a screech chaser Smile.
